Solidarity Presence
THX 2021, from June 28 to July 11 at Amarauna
Caught in the web, in love with stars…
The adventure is renewed in 2021 with an invitation to live together and think in acts the relations of our woven networks, forging alliances, questioning the means to support these resistances emerging spontaneously because of the worsening of the situation, the tools of collective organization for the dissident and dissonant practices, the dispersed networks of struggles as the European collectives of carers and the peasants’ struggles…
What is it about?
Les petites singularités - Berezitasun txikiak - invites you to continue the work done last year around Prendre Soin by integrating it into this third techno-landscape that we have been raving about for three years. This is a two-week writing residency[1] with a double objective : to create a publication on the model of Software Freedom Your Way and Prendre Soin, that is to say a 64-page booklet that fits in your pocket, with excerpts of various texts and links to their complete versions and associated online discussions; and then we want to create an object, a hyper-book, which will be published later, with numerous contributions, and in a new format that will allow us to keep an overview of the work, direct access to the references, and allow for a non-linear reading. Before addressing our concerns, let’s take a seat in this place that welcomes us for the occasion.
What is this place?
Located halfway between Iruña[2] and Gasteiz, in the village of Ziordia, whose name refers to the elderberry whose fragrant flower and berries were once used to prepare infusions capable of curing ophthalmia; this “herb of the eyes” invites us to open our eyes and carefully observe the situation before us. Wedged between the A1 highway and a quarry, the autonomous center Amarauna (“the spider’s web”) is a rural oasis of freedom in the heart of the hills and forests typical of the Basque Country, 3 km from a prehistoric site. Once a mill, then a lingerie factory, the house was converted into a convent before being taken over by the Amarauna collective to make it a self-managed meeting place, both oriented towards the local population with regular workshops and open to a vast network whose activities intersect with social and political contribution, feminist autonomy, self-management, agriculture and food sovereignty, defense of the territory, education and youth, sports and arts, Basque language and culture, and health.
The choice of this place is therefore not fortuitous and is in line with the commitments of the small singularities and more precisely in the orientations to which we wish to invite you for this new meeting of THX. We would like to thank our Basque friends for their welcome and support.
A meeting dedicated to writing
Amarauna will welcome us from June 28 to July 11 for two weeks of living together and writing. THX will be an opportunity for all of us to take stock of the ways in which we do things together, in particular to look at the modalities of radical care, self-management, the transmission of knowledge and their tools, in order to explore - to bandage together - rich, funny, shared and sustainable caregiving imaginaries.
An open invitation
THX welcomes us at the intersection of worlds to share our practices of writing for care and creation, small singularities engage the question of collective practices – no technology can replace the word and the attention paid to oneself and to others – and in particular this year those of mycorrhizal alliances: how to compose transversal experiences of perennial mutual aid in spite of divergences and unsurpassable power relationships, in spite of the hiatus between resistant modes of organization and constrained and submissive digital practices, in spite of (or thanks to) the frictions that cross us and the world…

In order to facilitate the preparation of the meeting, as much for us as for our hosts, please send us in reply your availability during these two weeks and the subjects that interest you to develop.
Children are welcome and we will be able to take care of them collectively if necessary.
It is necessary to count about twenty euro per day of presence plus the food. Here again, we will create a solidarity fund to facilitate the participation of all. If you have a special diet, please indicate it so that we can adapt the collective kitchen to your needs.
Trains and buses allow us to reach the place as close as possible. We can organize the travel in a collective way to fluidify the comings and goings.
Due to the uncertainty of the international health situation, we recommend that you follow the information about yourself.[3]
