Welcome/Bienvenue to/aux petites singularités

AN OPEN INVITATION OPEN TO petites singularités

#Open Invitation to join Our Organization and understand our Internal Kitchen,

Preamble

petites singularités is a non-profit association based in Brussels, interested in collective practices and free software. @natacha and @how founded it in 2017, and since then it serves as an anchor for other projects either through participation in the forum (#cooperation:de-la-dette-et-des-dividendes), or through different forms of organic (#ps:hcklabxl) and/or administrative (#ps:gnuragistes) collaboration.

Participate – Cooperate

Welcome if you wish to join us, you can do so informally by participating in activities, cooperating through a partner organization, or becoming a member.

The first entry point to participate in petites singularités projects is our online forum (https://ps.zoethical.org) which is organized into 3 main categories:
- #participation, the welcome space where everyone is welcome and can post topics and/or projects that concern them.
- #commitment, the space where to register projects in which members of small singularities commit the association.
- #cooperation, the space where you can post projects of cooperation between your collective and the small singularities.

To participate informally as a person or to cooperate as a collective, you can propose a work topic, the organization of a group or a conference on the forum that you can facilitate. If you are not sure how to proceed you can send an email to asbl@lesoiseaux.io.

Get involved

Joining the Small Singularities as an active member is a way to show your interest and ability to actively participate in the association’s projects by getting involved in existing initiatives or proposing new ones, be it collaborative projects or proposals for software development, digital hosting, publications, action-research, etc.

Any person or organization supporting the values and ways of functioning of small singularities can apply to become an active member. In order to be accepted as a member, you will need to follow the membership procedure described below.

Benefits of active membership

Becoming a member of Small Singularities allows you to :

  • Join the @Sing group of the forum which gives you access to the ASBL conference (Permanent General Assembly) where conversations take place concerning the life and projects of the ASBL as well as to conferences concerning its administration (accounting, financing, etc.).
  • Participate in the General Assemblies, in particular the Annual General Assembly which takes place in the spring.
  • Participate in the working groups that are determined during the General Assemblies.
  • For active and founding members, exercise the right to vote at the AGMs.

Membership procedure

Membership can be personal (active or founding member) or organizational (supporting member), but supporting members do not have access to the GA or the @sing group.

Applications for membership are made by motivated request to join the @Sing group. All applications for membership in the association are examined by the active and founding members who discuss them among themselves in the thread of the request before notifying the applicant of acceptance or refusal at least one month after the application to give all members time to evaluate the proposal.

If at the end of one month following the application for membership, the application has received the support of at least three members and no opposition, then it is accepted and the member can then pay the annual fee[1] to formalize his or her entry into the association.

The details of this procedure appear in the guide “Comment rejoindre les petites singularités[2].

Note to organizations

It seems important to us to specify that the status of “benefactor member” (reserved for organizations) entails responsibilities, particularly in terms of commitment beyond the financial participation in the form of an annual subscription. The organization applying for membership will take care to specify how it intends to support the ASBL by its action.

The membership of an organization is done through a delegated person and follows the same procedure as for an individual but with the following additional modalities:

  1. the delegated person must specify in his/her motivation that he/she is acting on behalf of an organization
  2. the application

  1. the amount of the annual membership fee is defined by article 11 of the Statutes and corresponds to a minimum of 1€ for individuals. ↩︎

  2. and the corresponding subject: Comment rejoindre les Petites Singularités? ↩︎
